About the opportunity:

We are currently seeking a talented Water Design Engineer to join our vibrant Water Design department, located in either our Stonehouse or London Office, on a permanent basis.

In this role, you will be instrumental in our team, focusing on water network design and planning for residential and mixed-use developments. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring top-notch service delivery to our clients, solidifying our position as industry leaders in water solutions.

You will report to the Water Design Manager and collaborate closely with Graduate Engineers, Design Support Technicians, Water Design Engineers, and Senior Engineers.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design water mains and service connections to engineering standards including the Water Company’s Design and Construction Specification and the Water Supply Water Fittings Regulations
  • Produce effective design drawings for all aspects of the project
  • Escalate any major or commercial issues experienced in the team to the Senior Design Engineer
  • Design water mains and service connections to engineering standards including the Water Company’s Design and Construction Specification and the Water Supply Water Fittings Regulations
  • Make site visits to ascertain detailed information related to the design and planning of a project
  • Manage own portfolio of design work, on time and within budget
  • Ensure design compliance with CDM
  • Liaise with and support the UKPS team on technical and planning matters to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Peer review water designs completed by other designers

About you

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Previous experience of designing new water networks
  • Previous experience in the Self-Lay/NAV market is a distinct advantage
  • Knowledge of engineering codes, regulations, standards and specifications
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex engineering drawings and appropriate commercial documentation
  • Previous experience of Water Network Modelling Software e.g. WaterGEMS or similar (desirable)

Qualifications

  • Minimum of HNC in an Engineering related discipline

Desirable:

  • L3 Diploma in Designing Water Networks (CABWI)
  • Registered to minimum EngTech level with IoW/CIWEM/ICE
