We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced lawyer to join our growing legal team in one of our offices (Hamilton, London, Gloucestershire).
Due to significant growth of the Last Mile business, we are looking for a senior lawyer with infrastructure or energy experience to join our team.
You will be responsible for providing legal support on all legal matters associated with Last Mile operations, ranging from design and build activities, to owning, operating and maintaining utilities infrastructure across Great Britain.
Ideally, you will have had previous exposure to all or some of the following areas: construction/commercial contracts, energy and infrastructure projects, with ambition to develop expertise in other areas such as regulation, compliance and corporate matters.

Legal work in the group spans across all Last Mile operations ranging from design and build activities through to owning, operating and maintaining utilities infrastructure. This role will report into the Head of Legal (Michael Davies) for the Last Mile Group. Michael has over 19 years of energy and utilities sector experience gained from both senior in-house energy roles and private practice.
The Last Mile Group is a £100M+ turnover business owned by Infracapital, the infrastructure investment arm of M&G plc and has experienced significant growth (20% year on year and doubling in size every 4 years), currently employing over 800 people.

Role purpose
You will be proactive, dynamic and keen to work with a range of business partners.
You will provide commercially astute, personable and pragmatic legal advice to support the Last Mile Group’s commercial and strategic goals whilst also managing and mitigating risk.
You will be an integral legal partner on a range of projects.
Key responsibilities
Exposure to a wide variety of legal, regulatory and compliance matters:
- Construction, commercial & procurement contracts
- Licence obligations & regulation
- Assisting with corporate activities and corporate governance
- Assisting with property queries
- Anti-bribery & corruption
- Data Protection
- Anti-money Laundering
- Other compliance & regulatory issues
Qualifications, training & professional memberships
- Qualified Lawyer (in the region of 5 - 8 yrs PQE)
- Relevant practice based and/or in-house experience
Experience, skills & knowledge
- Demonstrable experience within a commercial, construction or infrastructure projects area of law
- Ideally some experience gained in regulation, compliance and corporate governance matters
- Excellent technical skills with good grasp of legal principles and ability to apply them to deliver concise and pragmatic legal advice
- Understand the importance of reputational management and providing advice accordingly
- Proficient in IT
