About the opportunity:

We are currently looking for a Trainee Asset Inspector to join our growing Asset Adoption department.

Ideally a candidate will be located in Oxford, Swindon, Reading and surrounding areas.

 

As a Trainee Asset Inspector, you will learn how to provide a comprehensive advisory and support function for the construction and adoption of electrical/gas/water and heat networks that are to be adopted by Last Mile Asset management. You will be trained how to undertake site base inspections and surveys ensuring Last Mile Asset Management (LMAM) assets are constructed in accordance with technical and safety standards. You will be thought how to liaise with independent connection providers (ICP) to ensure any construction issues are identified through to successful resolution.

What you’ll be doing:

You will follow a two year Trainee Asset Inspector programme involving all utility connections/inspections associated with Last Mile Asset Adoption process. This two year programme will give you a fantastic grounding in what we do in Last Mile Asset Adoption across the full utility asset life cycle starting at design, construction and commissioning and ending at asset operations and maintenance. This broad and diverse programme will prepare you for your first substantive role within the business and enable you to develop a valuable network across the Last Mile Infrastructure.

As well as working in a variety of placement roles we’ll ensure you receive the training, mentoring and support required to grow and excel in your role. This ongoing support will help develop the technical skills and behaviours to progress your career as a future Asset Inspector.

 

By the end of the 2 year programme you will be able to:

 

  • Carry out audit checks on all aspects of adoptable network construction including substation installation, main laying, connection activity and update the necessary business systems with the output. 
  • Provide advice to Independent Connection Providers (ICP) working with or on behalf of LMAM on health, safety, environmental, quality, and best practice matters. 
  • To conduct post adoption regulatorily inspections in accordance with industry guidance and procedures. 
  • Ensure that safe working practices are always maintained. 
  • Manage regular and routine correspondence with internal and external stakeholders to control and deliver onsite requirements. 
  • Provide monthly reports detailing audits complete, issues and trends. 
  • Provide onsite support for ICPs enquiries. 
  • Liaise with up-stream Distribution Network Operator as and when required. 
  • Carry out other duties which are appropriate to the post as may be reasonably requested by your Line Manager. 

 

 

About you

 

Ideally you will have the construction or an engineering background (gas/water main layer, electrician, cable jointer, multi utility operative) however you will be trained and put through all necessary qualifications and courses to prepare you for an Asset Inspector role.

 

To be a successful candidate you are required to have a full driver licence, willing to work on your own initiative, work away when required and be self-motivated with strong communication skills.

 

 

What happens after successful completion of the programme:

You will be a fully qualified Asset Inspector carrying out a full range of asset inspections as part of the adoption process for Last Mile Asset Management.
