About the opportunity

We are actively seeking a permanent gas and water service layer to become an integral part of our expanding Resources department, serving the Bristol region.

As a gas and water service layer, your primary responsibility will be to support our gas and water mainlayer in delivering gas and water contestable connections. We are actively seeking individuals who are enthusiastic about learning and development, with the potential to progress into the role of a main layer themselves

Additionally, we may consider candidates that hold both the NCO Gas and Water Experienced Worker authorisations National Water Hygiene (Blue Card) and EUSR SHEA Gas and Water qualifications.

While our goal is to schedule the majority of your tasks within a 2-hour radius of your home address, there may be occasions when work requires travel farther away, necessitating overnight stays.

Your responsibilities:

  • Ensure before commencing work you are in receipt of all relevant paperwork required and that you understand the task/s that you have been instructed to undertake;
  • Carry out on site Risk Assessments before commencing works;
  • Promote and demonstrate a culture of Health Safety & Quality at all times;
  • Ensure all works are carried out to UK Power Solutions Ltd / DNO /IGT specifications;
  • Ensure the appropriate usage of Tools, Equipment & Plant;
  • Make the project supervisor / project manager aware of any project variations;
  • Report all accidents and incidents;
  • Complete all site records and paperwork as required;
  • Ensure any personnel under your supervision have the relevant experience, knowledge & training to carry out tasks;
  • When carrying out works within the public highway ensure works signed and barriered in accordance with Chapter 8 NRSWA;

About you

  • For company van insurance purposes, we require the successful candidate to be 25 or over
  • NCO Water Assistant or above (essential)
  • NCO Gas Assistant or above ((essential) 
  • SCMC(CP) (desirable)
  • SCO Core, PTW, FOA and RO (desirable)
  • NJUG understanding
  • An understanding of correct depths, sanding, tape, other utilities
  • EUSR or ECS card
  • National Water Hygiene (blue card)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • First aid certification 
  • NRSWA Operator certification (desirable)
