Our London Electrical Design team is growing, and we're excited to welcome a talented Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join us.
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer at UKPS, you’ll lead the design and delivery of new electricity distribution networks, from Low Voltage (LV) up to 132kV. You’ll play a central role in managing end-to-end design processes, ensuring all technical, regulatory, and customer requirements are met. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, you’ll provide technical leadership and support for complex connections, diversions, and infrastructure projects across residential, commercial, and industrial developments.

Your responsibilities as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer:
- Design Leadership
Take ownership of designing new electricity connections and diversions, covering contestable works up to 132kV, ensuring all designs are technically compliant and cost-effective. - Technical Documentation
Prepare, review, and approve detailed technical documents including single-line diagrams, cable sizing, protection settings, substation layouts, and design risk assessments. - Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Liaise with DNOs, IDNOs, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to secure design approvals, resolve technical queries, and ensure seamless integration of all design elements. - Team Development & Mentoring
Provide guidance and technical oversight to junior engineers and designers, supporting their development and ensuring consistent high-quality outputs across the team. - Compliance & Industry Standards
Ensure all designs meet relevant DNO/IDNO standards (e.g. G81), ENA regulations, CDM requirements, and health & safety legislation, while representing the company at technical meetings and design reviews.
Experience / Knowledge:
- 5 years of experience in utility design and planning sector in a similar role.
- A sound understanding of distribution networks.
- Previous experience of connections design is a distinct advantage.
- Experience in distribution HV and EHV network design, protection, earthing design.
- Familiarity with industry earthing tools.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary project environments.
Qualifications
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline, with modules in Power Distribution
