Are you an SAP Electrical Engineer looking for a new challenge or new opportunities? Look no further! We are inviting candidates from the Leeds area to join our expanding talent bank. 

The responsibilities of a SAP Electrical Engineer:

  • Schedule in all HV electrical works, including shutdowns, jointing, testing, generator installations, switching and fusing.
  • Support the Operations Manager, Project Managers and Site Managers with technical electrical engineering guidance.
  • Ensure that all testing and commissioning is undertaken in line with relevant DNO / IDNO requirements. 
  • Ensure HV works including earthing is carried out to the local DNO / IDNO specifications.
  • Carry out HV cable testing to the adopting DNO / IDNO requirements and issue relevant quality paperwork.
  • Identify and resolve any HV cable faults including sheath faults.
  • Attend DNO / IDNO HV connections and issue isolation and earthing certificate if required.
  • Apply for DNO / IDNO energisation requests.
  • Carry out interim and final audits of substations and arrange for any remedial work with the developer.
  • Complete all LMAM Adoption paperwork prior to energisation.
  • Make sure the Customer Connection Agreement is in place prior to Energisation.
  • Witness G59 testing for sites that have customer generation
  • Carry out regular safety and quality audits before handing over assets to relevant asset owner.
  • Keep track of DNO / IDNO process changes and ensure that these are raised in house with our Standards team and briefed to our Operations team.
  • Ensure quality work is being carried out and complies with the standards for all Asset Owners.
  • Take a lead role for health, safety, and work quality on each project
  • Use improved working techniques to increase efficiency
  • Ensure that work is carried out safely and efficiently on all clients’/asset distribution systems
  • Supervise working parties in live substations including site cable installation, backfilling cable pits and client remedial works.
  • Issue all relevant safety and quality documentation to new operatives or when policies and procedures have been updated. 

 

About you

Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Minimum - HNC Electrical Engineering 
  • Existing SAP authorisations on IDNO networks
  • Site Managers Safety Training Scheme
  • HV/LV Distribution Networks
  • HV testing equipment & procedures
  • Working knowledge of Standard Operational Safety Rules, industrial hazards and Health and Safety Precautions
  • Low Voltage/High Voltage switching experience 
  • Working knowledge of DNO’s policies and procedures.
