Head of Transformation and Delivery – Remote or Office Based

As Head of Transformation and Delivery you will lead the strategic change agenda across Last Mile, driving the design, delivery, and embedding of transformation programmes that support the company’s growth, operational efficiency, and regulatory readiness. This role will ensure change initiatives are aligned with corporate objectives, deliver measurable value, and are embedded sustainably across the organisation, while critically insuring end to end delivery of those change initiatives.
Head of Transformation and Delivery position is pivotal in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and agility, while ensuring robust governance and stakeholder engagement throughout the change lifecycle. It will work closely with the Executive Team, functional leads, and external partners to ensure successful delivery of transformation programmes.
This opportunity for Head of Transformation and Delivery can be remote, or office based. Regular travel will be expected to our main site locations in Glasgow and Stonehouse (Gloucestershire) and other Last Mile facilities.

Your responsibilities as Head of Transformation and Delivery:
- Lead the development and execution of Last Mile’s business transformation strategy, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational priorities.
- Own and manage the enterprise change portfolio, including budget, programme governance, resource planning, risk management, and benefits realisation.
- Champion a structured change management methodology across the organisation, ensuring consistent practices and tools are used to support successful adoption.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to identify transformation opportunities, assess feasibility, and develop business cases for investment.
- Oversee the delivery of major change programmes, including digital transformation, process optimisation, and organisational redesign.
- Ensure effective stakeholder engagement and communication plans are in place to support change adoption and minimise resistance.
- Monitor and report on programme performance, risks, and outcomes to the Executive Team, Board and relevant governance committees.
- Embed a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, encouraging feedback, learning, and adaptation.
- Support the development of internal change capability through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and investor expectations in all transformation activities.
Experience / Knowledge:
- Proven experience in leading large-scale business transformation programmes preferably within infrastructure, utilities, or regulated sectors.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate vision into actionable change plans.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging at Executive and Board levels.
- Deep understanding of change management methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in benefits tracking and performance reporting.
- Commercial acumen and ability to align transformation with business performance and value creation.
- Experience in digital transformation and process improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with project and portfolio management tools (e.g. MS Project, Power BI, Jira).
- Experience in regulated environments and understanding of governance frameworks.
Qualifications (desirable):
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent).
- Relevant qualification in change management, project management (e.g. MSP, PRINCE2), or business transformation.
