About the opportunity:

We are currently looking for a Permanent Gas Engineer (Gas in Flats) to join our growing Asset Management department at our Hamilton Office.

 

As a Gas Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Management of Last Miles gas networks in multi-occupancy buildings/gas in flats (GIF).
  • Inspection programme of existing assets.
  • Project Management of contractors to undertake identified remedial works.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of external companies and agencies such as Factors and the HSE.
  • Managing the inspection data and maintain an up to date status of inspections and remedial works.
  • Providing technical leadership and knowledge to support all GIF activities, to ensure compliance with the appropriate industry/company standards.
  • Developing effective relationships with key stakeholders to ensure compliance of network activities.

Your responsibilities (list is not exhaustive):

  • Day to day activity and performance management of the company Gas Safety Management System.
  • Develop, implement, and continually review and improve the company policies, procedures and performance across the business covering all GIF activities.
  • Ensure the company standards are understood, implemented and maintained by all stakeholders.
  • Assist the Gas Standards Manager with the review of the company’s GIF standards/documents.
  • Support Last Mile Gas Safe Control of Operations (SCO) process.
  • Support the Engineering Team to ensure gas operational processes meet health and safety standards and national accreditations.
  • Responsible for assessing the competency of individuals and contractors working within the GIF sector.
  • Liaise with GIF contractors to ensure the necessary authorisations are in place and maintained.
  • Provide technical support for the validation of GIF contractors for the adoption of Assets into the business.
  • Represent the company on industry panels and forums.
  • Maintain industry knowledge and participate in industry events.

 

 

Experience / Knowledge:

Essential:

Detailed knowledge of multi-occupancy gas network installations.

Knowledge of gas network design, construction, commissioning, and operations

Sound knowledge of the gas industry standards, including understanding of the requirements of Lloyds Register GIRS scheme.

Proven problem-solving skills.

Ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation.

Desirable:

Experience of technical authoring of industry standards, processes, and procedures.

 

Essential:

Qualification detailing significant operational/design experience and technical expertise.

Professional qualifications or recognised membership through IGEM (IEng or CEng).

 

Desirable:

Experience of working in a similar gas engineering role with a thorough knowledge of operational applications.

Experience of operating as a CP.
