About the opportunity:

We are currently looking for a Permanent Electrical Faults Engineer to join our growing Asset Management department at our Hamilton Office.

 

As Electrical Faults Engineer you will:

  • Oversee the emergency response and operational integrity of the electrical distribution network owned and operated by the company.
  • Ensure compliance with safe best practice, legislation, accreditations, industry and company standards.
  • Maintain industry knowledge to provide support of company electrical activities.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting on network statistics and regulatory returns.

Your responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for maintaining electricity supplies to LMEL customers; with direct responsibility for establishing and implementing fault responses through the management of a third- party call centre, contractors and internal resources.
  • Lead contact with emergency service providers.
  • Ensuring compliance with license conditions including recording and reporting statistical returns.
  • Ensure that the relevant business systems are maintained for the company’s electricity assets.
  • Provide support and contribute to the review and development of the company electrical technical standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and operational support where required to company staff and contractors carrying out activities on the LMEL distribution network.
  • Maintain compliance with OFGEM Guaranteed Standards and other regulatory returns.
  • Developing/maintaining of standards, processes and procedures relating to the electrical network faults.
  • Liaise with company customers regarding satisfactory outcomes to enquiries, complaints and escalate where necessary.
  • Maintain industry knowledge and participate in industry events.
  • Review and approval of invoices for electrical faults.

 

Experience / Knowledge:

Essential:

Experience of operations of electricity distribution networks.

Excellent knowledge of electricity industry standards at application level.

Good knowledge of distribution legislation e.g. ESQCR & Electricity Act.

Experience of operating to Distribution Safety Rules.

Familiarity with IDNO/DNO interface arrangements and issues.

Knowledge of industry engineering recommendations and guidance documents.

Proven commitment to health, safety, and compliance. 

Experience & understanding of Health & Safety in both design and construction environments.

Desirable:

Operational authorisation to SAP level.

Experience of producing of standards, processes and procedures.

Experience of representation on Industry Forms.​

Qualification detailing significant operational experience and technical expertise.

IOSH Managing Safely

Degree in an Engineering discipline.

Incorporated or Chartered Engineer Status (or evidence of working towards).

NEBOSH General Certificate.

Able to successfully communicate with a range of stakeholders.

Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision with the ability to manage and prioritise conflicting priorities
