Electrical Engineer (Standards) – Remote

As an Electrical Engineer (Standards) at Last Mile working under the Asset Management brand, you will collaborate closely with the Electricity Standards Manager and engage with both internal and external stakeholders to maintain, develop, and ensure compliance with our procedure and policy documents.
This is a fantastic opportunity to leverage your expertise and drive the company's standards forward, supporting stakeholders in designing and building networks for adoption by Last Mile Electricity. While the position is primarily remote/home-based, it includes occasional team visits to our Hamilton office.

Your responsibilities as a Electrical Engineer (Standards):
- To review, author, develop, and maintain the company’s suite of standards for the adoption of electricity network assets, and work on the company’s electricity distribution networks.
- Provide technical knowledge and support of all electrical activities to ensure compliance with the appropriate industry and company standards.
- Develop, and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including external industry organisations and forums, to ensure the company has a voice in industry change and future energy scenarios.
- Liaise with other company utility teams (Gas, Water, Wastewater, Heat), regarding consistent document presentation and layout, cross utility processes, and wherever logical harmonisation is desirable and practicable.
Experience / Knowledge:
- An ability to use or quickly learn more advanced MS Office features (Word/Excel) to author documents and analyse data, including use of MS Word Styles, Cross References, Tables of Contents, etc and Excel formulas, lookups and filters.
- An ability to author/review/develop standards, procedures, and specifications documents, translating processes, procedures and concepts into clear written form.
- A working knowledge of electricity distribution and construction legislation e.g ESCQR, Electricity Act, Electricity at Work Regulations, BS7671 etc
- An ability to communicate clearly across all levels of the organisation.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly in written and oral forms.
- An appreciation of electricity network design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
Qualifications:
- Electrical Engineering qualification, at City & Guilds level 3 or above, with the ability to understand electrical theory and it's application to construction of LV and HV distribution networks.
