Due to continued growth in design and connections volumes, Last Mile Asset Management ( a multi-utility licensed network operator) has an exciting opportunity within it’s Design Team for an Electrical Design Engineer to support our growing order book. Head office (Hamilton, Glasgow) based is preferable to enable the right candidate to benefit from working alongside the team, however the role is open to remote applicants. Remote team members are required to periodically attend the head office.

This position enjoys varied and broad responsibilities, providing the successful candidate with experience covering all the Engineering Council Professional Engineering competencies.

These include:

  • Review of electricity distribution network designs produced and submitted by third party ICPs 
  • Production of designs for new connections activities
  • Tendering and quotation production
  • Delivery and Project Management
  • Management of project finances
  • Exposure to business process development
  • Mentoring and workload management of Technical Coordinators and Graduate Engineers where required
  • Engagement with customers and stakeholder businesses around the UK

 

The engineering position is supported by a wider team of Technical Coordinators allowing the Electrical Design Engineer time to focus on technical aspects of the role.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • To review electric network designs for new housing, EVCP, industrial, commercial and multiple occupancy projects
  • Manage the design acceptance process, ensuring KPIs are met and exceeded
  • Support required commercial activity including technical liaison with all stakeholders
  • Acceptance of design variations and resolution of customer design queries
  • To produce designs and quotations for electricity connection works to LMAM managed distribution networks and manage their delivery using subcontractors
  • Support required commercial activity including technical liaison with all stakeholders

 

Experience / Knowledge:

Utilities experience is desirable but not essential.

 

  • Ability to effectively understand and interpret engineering drawings and appropriate commercial documentation to enable design acceptance.
  • Excellent IT literacy with the ability to use MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
  • Ability to adapt to or have experience of commercial / in-house design and Windebut
  • Excellent numeracy and analytical ability

 

Desirable:

  • Design experience of utilities LV, 11kV and 33kV networks.
  • Practical knowledge of relevant new roads and streetworks regulations
  • Experience of CDM regulations and ability to interpret and apply to design solutions
  • Evidence of relevant CPD
  • Experience of using computer aided design software

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of HNC an Engineering related discipline

Desirable:

  • Degree in an Engineering related discipline
