About the opportunity:

We are currently looking for a Permanent PT or FT Early Talent Manager to join our growing Learning and Development department. Ideally you will be based in a commutable distance from our Stonehouse office however, other locations (remote) will be considered for the right candidate. 

 

As an Early Talent Manager, you will shape and lead the management of early careers / emerging talent across Last Mile. Working closely with key stakeholders the role will review, design and deliver a best-in-class end-to-end experience for our early talent population.

Your responsibilities:

 

•             Work with key stakeholders across Last Mile to design and deliver an early talent strategy aligned to business requirements

•             Lead the early talent team, driving individual performance and supporting their continual development  

•             Continually review our early talent programmes, candidate experience and engagement throughout the early talent cycle and recommend future improvements to ensure they remain best-in-class

•             Work with key internal partners to develop an early talent recruitment brand to promote opportunities at Last Mile and attract a pipeline of early talent

•             Partner with business areas to identify annual recruitment requirements linked to business requirements and succession plans 

•             Work with HR to design and deliver effective approaches and processes to recruit, onboard and induct all new starters in our early talent population

•             Develop robust processes and metrics to measure, support and review all individuals in early talent

•             Continually review and report on the effectiveness and return on investment in early talent

•             Work closely with the early talent population to ensure they are supported, developed and retained to be successful within Last Mile

•             Explore strategies and approaches to maximise the apprenticeship levy and other funding streams for the benefit of Last Mile

•             Support the Head of Learning and Development to undertake talent reviews in the early talent population to determine key skill gaps and develop strategies to attract, retain and develop our talent

•             Work closely with the wider Learning and Development team to design and deliver targeted entry level development programmes and pathways 

•             Report on key KPI’s and progress in early talent

•             Form key relationships with external parties such as schools, colleges and universities, to promote Last Mile and the industry as future pathways into employment

•             Manage the relationship with strategic external providers to manage the delivery of professional qualifications and training

•             Represent Last Mile at networking and industry events to promote the business and our early talent programmes

•             Keep abreast of latest trends, developments and opportunities to ensure we’re delivering best in class programmes

 

Experience / Knowledge:

Essential:

Experience running early careers development programmes

Experience supporting, guiding and developing people

Prior experience managing funded programmes and

 

Desirable:

Previous experience of learning and development within the utilities sector or similar

Prior experience of the end to end recruitment cycle

Previous experience working across a group of companies

Previous line management experience

Learning & Development related qualification will be desirable

 

Attributes:

A strong understanding of the apprenticeship levy and apprenticeship standards

 

Confident and engaging communicator

 

Strong relationship building skills with individuals at all levels

 

Strong IT skills including MS office

 

Strong business and commercial acumen
